Description Showstopping fish‑form centerpiece and serving tray with sculpted head and fan tail framing a long rectangular bed surrounded by a pierced gallery. Cast head with textured scales and red glass eye; cast tail with parcel‑gilt highlights; sheet‑metal body with rolled edges; underside shows heavy brass/steel hardware—a commercial, hotel‑grade build. Impressive presence on a sideboard or as theatrical service for a whole fish. Highlights • Dramatic 30¼‑inch length—true centerpiece scale • Pierced gallery keeps garnish/ice in place for service • Cast head & tail with red glass eye and gilt tail • Thick, restaurant‑grade construction with riveted joins • Excellent as sculpture when not in service Attribution & dating Mid‑20th century, likely Spanish workshop, in the orbit of Grifé & Escoda (Barcelona), c. 1930s–1950s. Grifé & Escoda are well known for monumental “head‑and‑tail” salmon boards in plated alpaca; this tray shares the signature cast ends, red glass eye, and theatrical scale, but replaces the usual wooden board with a rarer all‑metal bed and pierced gallery, consistent with restaurant use. The piece is unmarked, and without catalog or maker’s stamp a firm attribution would be imprudent; presented as Spanish, mid‑century, in the manner of Grifé & Escoda. Materials Silver‑plate over mixed metals (nickel silver/brass), parcel‑gilt tail, red glass eye, steel/brass hardware. Provenance Removed from a Wyoming fish house/restaurant, which aligns with the commercial build and scale. Condition Good vintage condition with honest age toning, light service scratches, and plate rubs in high spots; gilt tail with warm remaining color. No maker’s mark found. Solid and ready to use or display. Measurements Approx. 30¼ in long; width and height vary by section. Heavy for size. Care Hand clean only. Wipe with a soft cloth after use. If polishing, use non‑abrasive silver polish sparingly and avoid the gilt tail.
