¤65.00

Overview Classic American bench plane in the No. 4 size, measuring about 9½ inches long. Solid, tidy example with honest shop wear and a great look—perfect for putting back to work or displaying in a workshop vignette. Highlights • Made in U.S.A. casting • No. 4 size smoothing plane (approx. 9½ in long) • Factory-style red lever cap and black japanned body • Front knob and rear tote secure; tote has a light wobble but remains well fastened • Blade depth adjuster and lateral lever present Why you will love it It’s the right size for everyday smoothing, has that handsome mid‑century shop aesthetic, and still has plenty of life left. Whether you’re tuning it for curls of end‑grain or styling it on a tool shelf, this plane earns its keep. Dating and background Mid‑20th‑century American manufacture, following the long‑proven Stanley pattern. The painted lever cap and black hardware are typical of post‑war production. Marked “Made in U.S.A.” on the body. Styling ideas Great in a bookshelf vignette with carpenter’s rules and levels, or on a pegboard above a workbench. Pairs well with other cast‑iron tools for an industrial look. Care Wipe metal surfaces with a lightly oiled cloth after use. Store in a dry place. If you plan to use it, lap the sole if needed, hone the iron, and add a coat of paste wax for glide. Dimensions Length 9½ in • Width 2⅜ in (at the sole) • Height about 5 in Condition Very good vintage condition with expected shop wear. Paint loss to the lever cap and some finish wear to the knob and tote. Rear handle has a little wobble but remains well secured. Working depth adjuster; blade shows use. See photos for close‑ups.
